Volunteers Colombia is an organization which develops Colombian people minds by offering them the tools that will help them learn and master English as a foreign language. Interns will work as English Teacher assistants to support and enhance different programs at SENA (the Government’s vocational training agency). Interns will work in several training areas, like Tourism and Business Process Outsourcing. Interns will teach vocational students, co-teach with Colombian English instructors, run conversation clubs with students and/or teachers, and support other activities related to English instruction.
The Project
The Internship
Internship will take place in one of these cities: Bogota, Medellin, Santa Marta, Barranquilla, Cartagena, others to be confirmed after selection. Exchange Participant will choose his 3 preferred options which not necessary will be the final assignment. This internship has two periods: January 12nd, 2014 to June 30th, 2014 and July 1st, 2014 to December 15th, 2014. Interns who stay both periods will have an unpaid vacation period of 15 days between them.
Working Details

Salary 800 USD per month.

Interns will have an unpaid training (three weeks) at the begining of the internship and living expenses in this period will be covered by Volunteers.

Interns will receive a bonus (250USD) if they successfully complete the first period.

Internship could be extended to December 15, 2014. In that case, interns will receive another bonus (650 USD) on December 15th.

Interns will receive a Spanish course (80hours) for free. TEFL Certification issued by SENA can be obtained.

SENA and Volunteers mentors will assist interns with accomodation logistics at the host site.

Discounts on hotels in the SENA network will be given to the interns.
